About RoBowling:
Now that I’ve played through a couple of franchise seasons I feel like I can leave a solid review. This is a good game. Ignoring for a second that it’s one developer, there is easily $25 – $30 USD worth of fun here. The customization options are remarkable (although I’d like a bit more of an in game logo editor), it’s kind of as broad or narrow as you want it to be. You can detail every bit of background information for every star, starter, and backup, or just outright randomly generate your entire team. You can insert your own custom team into the existing league or completely recreate it from the ground up. The weaknesses here are very limited logo customization (in game, you can easily upload your own images), no league customization, and no expansion teams (you have to replace an existing team). That said I’m a franchise player and the meat of this review will be about that. For this mode the game gets a strong recommendation though I think there’s room for a lot more (most likely in a sequel). I would like to start by saying this game has the best football franchise mode on the market outside of Madden, and I personally find it more engaging and interesting than Madden’s (I prefer fictional leagues). Axis football isn’t in the same ballpark. You start by customizing a coach and setting a league start year. If you choose, you can set teams to use vintage leather helmets and balls and set your game in 1920, I got hired by the Memphis Kings in 2008, a struggling franchise with a bloated payroll, old offensive players, and a slow defense whose only strength was its trenchers.
